Sedation Dentistry

Sleep Dentistry with IV Sedation

We are pleased to be able to offer our patients IV sedation, a technique that will make your dental visits more comfortable and stress-free. It’s used to relax you without putting you to sleep, you remain conscious and able to talk, walk, and breathe on your own, but you are extremely relaxed. Most of our patients sleep through their appointment.  The medication has a great amnesia quality to it, so most patients do not even remember anything and feel as if they were asleep the whole time.

IV Sedation

With IV sedation, you’ll remain relaxed, and will be able to understand and respond to requests from your dental team. For most people, IV sedation induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what’s going on. IV sedation is so effective that most patients who choose it reduce the number of visits required to complete their dentistry because they are so relaxed and at ease, we are able to address more than one concern and accomplish more. And remember…you can receive IV Sedation for any type of dental work, even a cleaning!

“Laughing Gas”

Nitrous oxide, more commonly known as “laughing gas,” is often used as a conscious sedative during a dental visit. The gas has a great calming effect that helps phobic or anxious patients relax during their dental treatment. Because it is a mild sedative, patients are still conscious and can talk to their dentist during their visit. After treatment, the nitrous is turned off and oxygen is administered for a few minutes.  Patients can leave the office, drive home or back to work and resume their normal daily routines. Laughing gas can be used or any procedure.
